PROCEDURE

1. FIRE BURN and WATER SCALD cases MUST BE CALLED IN WITHIN 30 MINUTES from the time of the Burn, and preferably within just the first FEW MINUTES.

As you will see from the more than 50 pages of results of the burn cases, it is CRITICAL to report the burn immediately after it occurs – preferably WITHIN FIRST FEW MINUTES, as this is the best time frame within which OPTIMAL results may be obtained! 

2.  Accurate information on the burn victim is also vital.

• We must have the full Name AT BIRTH (the maiden namefor women). Please SPELL it clearly.
• We need the full birth date and place of birth. Please SPELLthe name of the city or town and clearly name the state, and the country if it is not in the US.
• We must know the time of the burn, so as to determine that it is within the 30 minute protocol.
• OR just text a photo of the burn victim– NOT a photo of the burn, but a photo of the PERSON. Any photo will do – even a baby picture of an adult, a group picture, a picture just taken with a cell phone – that identifies the correct person who needs the help.
• Nature of the burn and the level of pain are valuable pieces of information. Please indicate whatever you know at the time you report the burn.
• Before and after pictures of the burn are important to document the burn tests. If you are able to photograph or video (with your camera cell phone) the injury "before" and then "after" processing is complete, please do so and send it to us via email or MMS.

3.  Early Feedback after processing is very important to documenting the results.

After you call in a burn case, someone from the Fireburndoctor Team will contact you to verify the accuracy of the information, record the nature of the burn, estimate the level of pain, and ask you to call back (or email us) after the next 30 - 60 minutes with the results of the processing.

The periodic updates on the burn are important documentation. Please remember and respect that the free burn tests are in exchange for your agreeing to provide the Fireburndoctor team with feedback on the results of your burn.

Also please note that your personal data is absolutely respected and fully protected by US HIPAA regulations in providing information to FireBurnDoctor. Your information is needed only to identify exactly who is burned, so that the correct person gets the help.

Instead of sending personal details, a burn victim can choose to send only a photograph, time of the burn and a phone number for verification. The results will be the same.

Note: Fictitious names are used in all the website burn case reports (unless someone has given written authorization to identify themselves for media purposes.)
